Joe Horrell
Joe started learning the piano at age 6, and soon after became a founding member of the “Foundation Strings” program at the Sage Gateshead (now the Glasshouse), on the violin. Then he joined the Chilli Road Band on the steel pans, which performs extensively around the region, and co-operated with other young members of the band to write an original piece. He also played in the Northern Steel Orchestra on the steel pans, including a performance at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Recently, he joined the Whickham and Swalwell Community Orchestra and took part in the William Shield Festival. He now plays in the Blyth Symphony Orchestra and the Blyth Big Band, and is working towards his diploma in piano performance.
Joe teaches Piano and Violin at both our Blyth and North Shields schools.
