Blyth Tyro Wind Band

Blyth Tyro Wind Band is a friendly and welcoming ensemble designed for beginner players through to approximately Grade 3 standard. Rehearsals take place every Wednesday evening from 6:30pm to 8:00pm during school term time.

Our aim is to help musicians develop their skills in a supportive and enjoyable environment. Players will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn how to play as part of an ensemble
  • Improve sight-reading skills
  • Develop stronger intonation and tuning
  • Build confidence in making music with others
  • Enjoy learning and progressing alongside fellow musicians

A short break is included halfway through each session, giving members time to rest, chat, and get to know one another.

We welcome players of all ages, from 8 years old through to adults, and we are currently expecting a wide range of ages within the group. We are particularly looking for musicians who play woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments.

To allow new members to experience the band before committing, September rehearsals will be completely free of charge.

From October onwards, membership fees will be:

  • £14 per month for adults
  • £8 per month for children

These fees are paid monthly throughout the year. The band rehearses during school term times only, and holiday dates can be found in the footer of our website.

As the band grows and develops, we plan to work towards public performances and concerts, giving members exciting opportunities to showcase their progress and enjoy performing together.

Whether you are returning to your instrument, just starting your musical journey, or looking for a fun group to play with, Blyth Tyro Wind Band offers a welcoming place to learn, improve, and make music together.
