A chance to perform, celebrate and share their music!
At Yamaha Music School North East, we believe that learning an instrument is about more than what happens in the lesson.
Performing gives students the opportunity to take the music they have been learning and share it with a real audience. Our end-of-term student concerts are designed to give students a friendly, supportive and enjoyable experience of performing live in front of family and friends.
Whether your child has been learning for years or is performing in public for the very first time, we want every student to feel proud of what they have achieved.

Why perform?
Live performance is an important part of a student’s musical development.
Preparing for a concert gives students a reason to practise, work towards a goal and really get to know the music they are playing. Performing also gives students the opportunity to develop skills that can benefit them both inside and outside of music.
Build confidence
Performing in a supportive environment gives students the opportunity to become more comfortable sharing something they have worked hard to achieve.
Set goals and celebrate progress
Having a concert to work towards gives students a clear goal and provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their progress at the end of the term.
Develop performance skills
Students learn how to prepare for a performance, manage the excitement of being on stage and recover if something doesn’t go exactly as planned.
Share music with others
Music is meant to be shared. Performing for family and friends gives students the chance to experience the enjoyment of bringing their music to an audience.
Create memorable experiences
For many young musicians, performing in their first concert is something they remember for years. We want these experiences to be positive, encouraging and something students can feel proud of.

Student Showcase Concert

6:00pm — Student Showcase Concert
For students learning instruments other than piano, including guitar, drums and other instruments.
This concert will be a celebration of the different instruments, styles and musical achievements of students across Yamaha Music School North East.
Who can take part?
The concerts are open to current Yamaha Music School North East students who would like the opportunity to perform.
Students will be allocated to the appropriate concert according to their instrument and, where applicable, their teacher.
Students can perform a piece they have been working on in their lessons. Performances may be solo or, where appropriate, with other musicians or accompaniment.
There is no requirement for students to be at a particular grade or level. The most important thing is that they are ready and willing to share their music.
