MUSIC PRODUCTION

Turn your musical ideas into professional productions with our Music Production Course at Yamaha Music School North East CIC. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to develop your production skills, this course follows the internationally recognised RSL (Rockschool) Music Production syllabus, giving students a structured pathway from beginner through to advanced levels.

Using industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), students will develop the creative and technical skills needed to produce, record and mix their own music in a modern studio environment.

What You’ll Learn

  • Recording audio and MIDI
  • Beat making and sequencing
  • Song arrangement and composition
  • Using virtual instruments and synthesisers
  • Editing audio and MIDI performances
  • Mixing techniques including EQ, compression, effects and automation
  • Mastering your finished tracks
  • Studio workflow and project management
  • Music production terminology and sound fundamentals
  • Critical listening and stylistic awareness
  • Creative production techniques used across a range of musical genres

As students progress through the RSL syllabus, they will complete practical coursework projects that develop both their technical ability and creativity. Higher grades introduce more advanced recording techniques, sound design, production for different media, and professional mixing and mastering skills, preparing students for further education or careers within the music industry. The syllabus is designed to be software-independent, allowing students to apply the skills they learn across a wide range of modern music production platforms.

Course Structure

Lessons are taught in small groups of up to 10, allowing students to receive individual support while learning collaboratively with others. Each session combines practical demonstrations, guided projects and hands-on production work, ensuring students gain real-world experience throughout the course.

Students who wish to gain an internationally recognised qualification will have the opportunity to work towards RSL Music Production grades, with assessments based on coursework, listening skills and music production knowledge.
